Saturated Sunshine Shades...Positano
25 April 2014
visiting in 1953, John Steinbeck wrote 'Positano bites deep. It is a dream place that isn't quite real when you are there...'
Today, it is no less enchanting. Seen from below, the buildings in pastel shades of primrose, pink, terracotta, peach and white seem to have been stacked one on top of another, climbing from the tiny crescent bay towards the cliffs that loom precipitously over the town. By day: chill in cafes, browse the boutiques, drive the hairpin bends and explore the coastline; by night: drinks & dinner on the flower-filled terraces of Le Sirenuse with views past Santa Maria's majolica dome to an azure canvas pierced by the fabled Li Galli rockstacks. x apsara
