my monthly musings and travel journal - an invitation to peek inside for insights and inspirations...because on this journey through Life ultimately we are all searching for where we find our consolations and our happiness and where, in the last resort, our treasure lies… so really this is an invitation to join me on a search for hidden treasures!
I hope for all that this year brings a focus on excellent health as this is the foundation from which we have choices, as well as a full treasure trove of Love, Happiness, all that is Fun&Fabulous, Fulfilling&Meaningful! I hope your time is spent surrounded by wonderful family/friendships/opportunities whilst remembering to stop, appreciate and give thanks for all the blessings. Let's try to live each day consciously and embrace life with an open heart and mind!
1st JANUARY: PHUKET BURMA 'The Gilt Trip' [view 'I-ESCAPE' for itinerary]
embrace the ethos of less is more...Bagan is magical!
novice nuns 'o so pretty in pink'...on the road to Mandalay
9th JANUARY: BURMA LAOS
Everyone is seduced by Luang Prabang. It captivates. It weaves a spell. It carries some flavour of Indochina before the modern world encroached. A UNESCO World Heritage site, Luang Prabang is considered one of Indochina’s cultural gems. The golden temple of Wat Xieng Thong with its striking gold and turquoise stone mosaics, intricate carvings, glass mosaic bodhi tree, temples and chapels set in gardens of bougainvillea, frangipani and banyon trees is simply stunning. Luang Prabang is a once-in-a-lifetime must see!

my favourite Laos anecdote from conversations with friends: a lovely lady and mentor living in Vientiane about 40years ago was taught at 14 to water-ski on the Mekong River by French fighter pilots...hmmm beautiful boys in leather bomber jackets and aviators would probably be the only motivation to dip into that yellow murky mekong water!12th JANUARY: LAOS HONG KONG
a whole lot of luxury at UPPER HOUSE in Hong Kong... and a wonderful walk around The Peak with Lady Tang before LONDON
Tarifa...back to the beach...on the edge where the Atlantic clashes with the Mediterranean, Tarifa is the last outpost separating Continental Europe and Africa. It is where I like to 'hang my hat', where I come to find my balance and where I call home! As a designer, I appreciate the daily inspirations: the incredible light quality, barefoot walks across white dunes, the colorful fabric butterflies of the kite surfers, vast moonlit skies and views across the Atlantic onto the northern most tip of Africa…But, most importantly, here I can be still with my inner thoughts and truly recognize my blessings!
